This gallery contains photographs either taken by a camera lifted by a kite (KAP), equipment used or at KAP events. Kite Aerial Photography (KAP) is practiced around the world. International symposiums on KAP are held regularly around the world with three being held in the United States. elmon > Henry Jebe from Alaska made this 1/4 scale working model of George Lawrence's panoramic KAP camera that was used to make an aerial photograph of the ruins of San Francisco after the 1906 earthquake. We had an interesting lecture at KAPiCA/06 on how the original photograph was taken, and how Henry duplicated the feat in 2006.

elmon > This radio controlled rig shown at KAPiCA/06 even has a video down link so the KAPer can see where he is aiming the camera.

elmon > Elmon's lightweight AutoKAP rig at KAPiCA/06. Instead of using the heavier radio control system, this rig automatically rotates 30 degrees, takes a photo, then rotates again, and so on.
